Where are you

I signed up for an online dating services called SeniorPeopleMeet. Unfortunately it is not like it was back in the 90's when you could get a free ride from the startups like Match.com. I got full service from them for years and it did not cost a cent.

SeniorPeopleMeet sends me at least one e-mail a day telling me that I have all these women that want to meet me, they even give me screen names and locations, of course none are local. However, if I want to contact anyone I need to start in with the monthly fees. Been around that block and know that for all the claims it is primarily a black hole to dump money in with little to show for it.

I suggested on my profile that googleing a name is a good idea hoping that someone who is really interested will track me down here but nothing so far, which proves my point about wasting money.

First of April

First week in April - how the year is flying by - NOT !!!

Another monthly accounting close began with me working most of Saturday and Sunday - I am scheduled through new Saturday. Joy, Joy.

Each day that I get out of bed and go to work is considered a success story in my book and shows heroic fortitude deserving of medals. I guess I will keep doing it as long as they keep paying me.

Well, enough drivel, back to work for me.

What to write

I have written and deleted 2-3 blogs in the past couple of weeks because they were all too whiney, mainly about work and overwork. I am having a very difficult time staying motivated. I am tired all the time. Just finished a whole series of medical tests and so far nothing wrong. So I guess I just keep on going since I can't afford to stop.

2 years and 4 months

Yes, 2 years & 4 months, 121+ weeks, 851 days - then, if all goes well, I will be in position to retire from huge, giant xxx corporation after 34+ years on the job.

More and more I am trying to figure out what to do then. Consulting is what I keep hearing from co-workers - draw retirement but continue the game. But I am tired of the game, it is not fun anymore. For a long time, most of the 30+ years it was, but not now. So what should I do? Work something new? Volunteer for something? If so, what.

Or maybe nothing. Move to some retirement place somewhere and just hang out. Flirt with the 60+ single women, learn bridge, shuffle board? Sounds deadly, but who knows, maybe it would grow on me.

Well there are still 2 years and 4 months to decide.

How I became a blog junkie

I am still a relative newcomer to the blogoverse, having read my first blog around November 2005. I saw an article about Stephanie Klein (Greek Tragedy) in the NY Times (online) and decided to investigate. I read her for about a week before I started looking at the comments. Another week or two and I linked back to some of the commenters and before I knew it, I was sucked into a whole vicarious world of other peoples thoughts and lives.

What I found amusing a couple of days ago as I was going through the list of roughly 50 blogs I have on my list of favorites, I realized that I never read the one that started it anymore.

To continue, after a month or so I decided to comment on someone's entry but to do so I need a blog of my own so I signed up never planning to make any entries.

After a period of time, I got to thinking about a memory that has always haunted me so I decided to put it on the blog, just to get it written down somewhere.

Low and behold, I got a comment - whoa - very cool. Then another with a question about a followup on the first entry. So I had to write another one. Then figure out how to get a picture posted. Now I am up to my 4th entry with no idea why I am doing this.
